MN Solar and More, LLC

We contacted MN Solar to install a home solar array and battery backup. After a bit of research and a recommendation from a friend, I chose to go with the SolarEdge system. I liked that it is one of the few systems that wasn't constantly switching from DC to AC and back again with inverters at the panels, between panels and the backup battery, then from the backup battery back to the house. Other than our local utility provider's glacial approval process, the install of the system went well. MN Solar was knowledgeable and professional. The 10kWh battery has been a problem from day one. Once it was installed, a software glitch prevented it from being recognized by the system. MN Solar, did multiple visits to our house and hours on the phone with SolarEdge to diagnosis and fix the problem. It was determined by SolarEdge that our battery wasn't functioning. That was October 2025. Here we are at March 2026 and we still don't have a replacement or any idea when/if one is coming. MN Solar has copied me on the weekly emails asking for updates on the RMA for a tracking number. SolarEdge's response is something to the effect of, "We will be in touch next week with your tracking number." After 6 months of waiting and already paying for a $41k system + battery, my patience is at an end. Now, comes the "fun" of trying to get a refund for this bricked battery sitting in my basement. The app so far has worked most of the time. There have been some bugs a few days with reporting but nothing of note. The array works well. If you are considering SolarEdge, my suggestion is don't get their battery. Everything else is fine.

We are extremely pleased with the customer-focused service we received from MN Solar. From the initial sales overview, through the many steps - scheduling, installations, inspections, and finally going live, they were with us and responded on the same day to each question. We also had a placement concern that they immediately addressed, and surpassed our expectations.

We worked with MN Solar over two years... But fear not, it was not their fault that the installation took so long, rather our local utility was being difficult, and it took some quality time with the PUC to help them realize that supporting home solar was in everyone's best interest. From initial sales/estimating response, to engineering to walking with us through the long delay, to being ready to move quickly when the project became possible... all our interactions with MN Solar were great. The installers worked around some "old house" issues with skill and the resulting installation looks great. We've had a lot of people stop by and ask about it and we always recommend MN Solar.

MN Solar installed our 6.5 KW solar system with the SolarEdge inverter in the spring (May/June) of 2023. The entire staff and installation crew were outstanding to work with. They knew all the steps/permits needed and took care of all the details. The proposal was competitive and the responsiveness was exceptional. The system performance has been excellent ever since it was turned on. I was especially pleased with MN Solar handling all the interactions with Xcel Energy and being present with either Xcel or the Electrical Inspector was on site.

MN Solar was the most affordable and easiest to work with installer when he decided to add solar panels to our home. They always responded to our questions and made the entire process seamless. We highly recommend. Our panels have completely eliminated our energy bills. We recently finished paying them off and we'll reach our ROI in a few years, meaning we'll have free energy (and no monthly energy bills) into retirement. One of the best decisions we ever made.

We just passed our one year anniversary of having solar panels placed on our roof with MN Solar. What a great company to work with! We got bids and for exactly the same panels and work, they were considerably less expensive. The work they performed was excellent and everyone was great to work with. Responsive and timely. When we were doing some additional work this summer on our garage and we had a question about power, they responded within an hour to our phone call. We would highly recommend.

The ground crew do a very good work of the Solar ray. The office people do return phone call when they can. If there is a problem on site of the install they do work with you.

Just completed installation of a large, rooftop system (15.17 kW). MnSolar has been excellent to work with as I had unexpected last minute delays and they worked around my schedule. Turns out I had hail damage on my roof that we found literally a couple of days before scheduled installation - thankfully! Had my roof replaced and then the solar installed. I also got the ‘critter guard’ to keep squirrels and birds out from under the panels (see photos). Seriously, have your insurance company inspect your roof BEFORE you install even if you think it’s fine. MnSolar’s crews were great to work with as was their behind the scene’s staff. Great communication. And their price was excellent! Would definitely recommend them!!

We contacted a few installers for quotes and ultimately selected MN Solar and More due to their competitive cost to install, the prior positive reviews from previous customers and the fact that they were a local MN company. They kept us updated on every part of the process through the Basecamp app and answered any questions we had. We were impressed with how organized the whole process was. They were onsite for a little more than 2 days and in that time, all materials were delivered, installed and tested. We've been using our solar panels now for a little more than a month and can track our energy production and consumption via an app on our phone(s). When we noticed one panel wasn't performing as well as the others, we contacted MN Solar and they quickly sent someone out to replace the panel at no charge. We would gladly recommend them to anyone intersted in solar energy!

I was working with another highly reputable solar company and almost signed the contract. I decided to get 1 more quote to make sure their equipment and prices were in-line. I sent an email to MN Solar and they scheduled a consultation within a day. I talked with the owner and designer (Kim & Leah), and they put together a proposal that used better materials, was more efficient, fit my roof better, and was about 10% cheaper that the other contractor. I also appreciated that they didn't try to bury excessive "administrative fees" into a low interest loan like the other contractor did. It was clear that they were not just sales people...they actually design the systems and know what they're talking about, so I decided to go with MN Solar. We ran into a hiccup just before the installation began that caused a slight delay. My electrical company (Dakota Electric) was not certain I'd be able to keep my off-peak rates for my off-peak heat pump and EV Charger equipment. Solar was still pretty new to Dakota Electric (May 2021), so I needed verification from Dakota Electric before anything moved forward. Kim, Leah, and their Master Electrician spent many hours with Dakota Electric to ensure everything was set up correctly, and I was able to keep my off-peak rates. The amount of effort they provided was impressive. The entire install took about 5-6 days (it was really hot out so they needed to quit early afternoon to avoid damaging the shingles). The crew that did the install was a really good group of guys. They worked hard and did a great job, but they were also extremely friendly and fun to chat with. MN Solar did great work at a very reasonable price. They took care of all the paperwork and permits, and made the whole process effortless for me. Their customer service and follow up were great too. If you're looking at getting solar installed, make sure you get 2-3 quotes so you can compare costs, equipment, and contractors. Just make sure MN Solar is one of the contractors because they are really good.

We signed up with MN Solar for a large project and then a smaller addition to the original. From start to finish they are fantastic to work with. CEO Kim is reachable and patiently answers all questions. Project manager Leah, Electrician Randy and office staff Bridget are equally exceptional. I'm a tough customer - I want a good price, great communication and an excellent product. MN Solar delivered it all and more. I asked for multiple quotes - no problem, had questions - they answered them, my internet didn't hook up with the monitoring program - they kept at it until they found the issue. They also used a drone to design my system which I thought was pretty cool.

We had a great experience with MN solar in Saint Paul. They were friendly, responsive, and professional throughout the process. Although there was a slow start due to the pandemic's impact on everyone involved, this team worked fast and hard. I especially appreciated that they consulted with me first regarding the installation of pipes, both on my roof and along the side of the house. I also posed questions or concerns to them and when the appropriate time came in the install process, they were sure to ask for my opinion, or point out the details I had been wondering about before continuing. It really only took them two days to do the full install and that surprised me. Once Excel got me hooked up, we were delighted to see the panels in action via our software app that we were able to download. Since the install, they have answered all of my questions and responded to all of my concerns. I look forward to the warmer months when we are cranking out more electricity and contributing more to the system.

My wife and I decided to have solar panels installed last year and got bids from 3 companies. We found MN Solar to be the easiest to work with and had a great product. My experience with MNSolar was positive in every way. The initial consultation done in person in contrast to a detached virtual meeting and that set the tone for the entire experience. This initial contact was more of an informational/educational meeting than a sales pitch and made me feel more comfortable about the decision I was making. MNSolar took care of every aspect of the project including HOA approval, the permits, and all the inspections. Communication was great. They readily answered all questions before the sale, during the project, and continued to do so after the instillation. If there seemed to be a lull in activity you had access to their Basecamp app which identified each member of the team and was the method that the team used to record every activity and could be used by the customer to see this activity and to communicate with individual team members. Projected instillation date was on target. From the moment of the contract all activities were well synchronized. Anyone considering going solar should definitely consult MNSolar before making their final decision.

Fantastic experience. They provided options, and didn't try to steer me toward a certain package, but instead provided appropriate guidance and information so I could make the best decision for me. Price was low. Service was almost perfect... when they started on the work, I wasn't given much of a heads-up. Turns out their entire team was hard at work at the Fair, basically their biggest sales opportunity of the year. They took my feedback sincerely and doubled down on their efforts. All questions and concerns were addressed quickly. The whole process was much quicker than expected. They were flexible when I needed a few days to move money for payments. The panels look amazing!! Monitoring production since 01/2021. Predicted production to be ~16MWh/yr. On track to produce that amount. Enphase Enlighten allows monitoring of each individual solar panel production in 15 min intervals. Shows production effects of snow coverage and satellite dish shadowing. Installation seamless from MN Solar. Xcel Energy slowed the approval process. 25 warranty on panels and microinverters. No regrets.

Very thorough estimate but also basic language. Installation team was very professional. They respected our business. And their cleanup was awesome, like they were never here.

If you are lucky enough to have a South facing roof without obstructions and have MN Solar as the installer there is not much in your way to enjoy the benefits of harvesting the power of sun. I worked with MN Solar in late 2020 to install at 12.35kW system on my roof in Minneapolis. I did A LOT of research in choosing a solar company and went with MN Solar because they have deep expertise in solar installations on properties like mine, they have totally amazing customer engagement, and are a local solar company with a community focus. MN Solar's pricing was totally transparent and very competitive with other developers I contacted. What really made the difference for me through was the company's willingness to hop on the phone with me multiple times to answer all kinds of questions as I was comparing quotes. Everyone I spoke with knew the ins and outs of solar development. There was no 'referring me to another rep'--everyone there knew everything! In the lead up to the install, MN Solar connected me on their Basecamp platform. This was really cool because it was the communication platform all the crew and office staff used too. There was 100% transparency on how things were going throughout the application, installation, and interconnection process. This is so important because the solar install process involves so much work pulling permits, working with equipment providers, crews, and the utility. Being able to see *every single document* on Basecamp and each step of the process laid out plainly and then get checked off gave me the confidence that MN Solar was working in my interests the entire time. It was also super easy to communicate with the staff during the whole process on Basecamp--they would always return my messages within minutes. During the actual install, the crew was professional and efficient. The crew members were happy to chat and answer questions too. At the beginning of the install, I chatted with the crew manager about how exactly they were planning on installing the panels and we figured out together that we could even squeeze in one more panel. In September of 2020, we started to get quotes for our Solar Array System. We received a few quotes, the most competitive, thorough, and detailed quote was thru Kim at MN Solar and More. Kim presented all the information and without pressure, left everything we needed to make our decision. When we decided, we asked MN Solar to come out and measure the roof and make sure that the system would fit as designed, and they did without a charge. We made arrangements for financing and scheduled the install to be completed by the year’s end, which MN Solar and More was able to do. Our beautiful 44 Canadian Solar panels mounted on IronRidge hardware with SolarEdge inverters shines and is completely uniform in looks and functionality. All wiring is completely tucked in our attic and looks fantastic. We received quotes from multiple solar installation companies, but were very impressed by the experience and attention to detail of Minnesota Solar. Kim was very thorough in explaining our options, and ours was anything but a typical installation. Our solar panel array was optimized by having it far from our house, with many mature trees, a paved driveway and finished landscaping along that route. Every member of the crew was very professional and respectful of our property and us. We had technical glitches and frustrations communicating with Excel Energy, but were very appreciative of Leah's monitoring and assistance in getting everything set to finally provide power to Excel. We felt we were in very capable hands from our first conversation to the end of the project and we highly recommend Minnesota Solar to our friends. MN Solar is a medium sized local Twin Cities company. Their proposal was very reasonable on a cost / watt basis. Installers and electricians worked safely on a steep, very tall roof. They kept the work site very clean. There were minor issues that they quickly fixed. They also were very effective in dealing with Minnesota Valley Electric Coop, which speeded the interconnection. Their system is performing flawlessly. Well done.
