Silfab Solar is a Canada-based manufacturer with a 350 MW plant in Toronto, Canada and a 400 MW factory in Wilmington, Washington. The factory in Washington was purchased when the company bought Itek, another solar panel manufacturer that fell on hard times financially.

They call themselves ‘the leading North American solar panel manufacturer’, and they have some right to this claim: they assemble their solar panels here in North America, they produce with a high degree of automation and they have excellent reviews (at the time of writing, second-best review score of all brands on SolarReviews).

Their panels boast solid efficiency and temperature coefficiency specifications, putting them at the higher end of the mid-range category.

However, its financial position is unclear. Both it, and part-owner Pan Asia Solar, are private companies that don’t publish their accounts. Lack of visibility into their finances raises concerns about Silfab Solar’s ongoing viability, especially given how competitive the solar industry is and the fact that the company is burdened by American labor costs, whereas many of its Chinese competitors are not.
