We contracted our solar system in 2017 with Moxie, with the project completed March 2018 (after we called to prompt them to please start the project). It took a phone call to a higher up staff member to get project going. We put up with problems from everything from paperwork problems to having our system designed on a neighbor’s shop roof, instead of our own. Once these issues were ironed out, we were told by the sales person that the 40 panel system didn’t fit on our shop roof, and we needed to do a ground mount system. Moxie worked with us and communicated well, at that time, so unfortunately, we decided to overlook the warning signs, as we wanted to have a sustainable source of green energy, so we commited to the solar ground system. All went well for 5 years and the app SolarEdge allowed us to monitor our production, until service was needed in May of 2022, when the system stopped sending our kWh of production to ComEd. A dozen calls to Moxie service went unanswered and most emails were ignored. Those that were responded to, we were told to “be patient”. We have currently lost all the summer production that net metering allows us to use in the winter; and we are paying full price for electricity. We were told by ComEd that they cannot retrieve our production from this summer, or any current production, but they sure can charge us for what we use. Moxie, you could have anticipated supply chain problems to get the internet connection device we need to get this $27,000 system back into production. It’s been 4 months and we are still waiting for service. We have asked for information on the repair part so we could hire another company to complete the repair. Supposedly, only a Moxie part/service can be used. Really? Moxie’s 5 star guarantee means nothing! I have kept 5 years of production and electricity cost records; and if Moxie wants to support us as customers, they will need to complete the repair, get our system running, and reimburse us for the losses we are incurring. By all means, support clean energy sources to end our dependence on fossil fuels, but do your homework before committing to any company.
