Residential solar panel sales and installation in Beverly Hills

I was fortunate to know someone who had MES install solar panels five years ago, and replace two which were damaged by a large tree limb which fell on them a couple years later, and was very pleased with their service both times. My experience with MES was excellent--lots of information, very experienced employees, installers and salesman. They also were helpful to me in navigating the project with DTE, our electricity provider, who seemed inexperienced and foot-dragging in doing their part. I recommend them heartily.

do not trust Charley McDonnel or Donna Nepalitano

MECHANICAL ENERGY SYSTEMS and in particular, Donna Nepalitano and Chaley McDonnell are NOT TO BE TRUSTED. They only want to close the sale and take your money.

CHARLEY IS ONLY IBNTERESTED IN CLOSING THE DEAL AND GETTING HIS COMMISSION. I have sent regular mail and certified letters to Donna Nepalitano to try and get this resolved. She assured me during the ONE pnone contact I have received from them over the past 18 months that they are very concerned about this and want to make sure their customers are very satisfied." crap

During the initial sales pitch I pointed out several inconsistencies in the prospectus and financial numbers they quoted. They appeared to be quite surprised that anyone actually read their stuff. They promised to make good on money that is owed to me and GUARANTEED by Charley. 18 months later, no phone calls and no response.

When their 'engineer' came out to insttall the panels on my roof, he wanted to place the solar panels between two large trees ????? It was ME who told them to place it back on the garage where the SUN COULD GET TO IT.

There is no follow up once they get your money you will never hear from them again.

I have talked to their installers who say that Charley will tell the customer anything without haveing any idea of what it takes to install some of their products. This is an on-going problem with them. Ask the installers.

They just don't care.

Terrible service

It looks like my residential install for 2-3 panels for DHW wasn't profitable enough. After many promises that my quote will be ready "by the end of the week" and multiple calls and emails, I gave up. I believe MES is too busy with the high profit commercial installs than to be bothered by us resi's. If you are a homeowner, stay away ! Find a company that supports residential installs.

Reply from Mechanical Energy Systems: We are currently talking with Mr.Walker. He had a lot of very technical questions and has scheduled an appointment with us in the very near future.
99.5% of our installations are residential retrofits and have been since 1985. We are currently installing a 14 panel solar hot water system on a business but that is not business as usual. This installation has not prevented us from installing approximately 2 residential solar electric systems per week so far this year, among our other residential installations of natural day-lighting and high efficiency heating and cooling.
We look forward to installing a system for Mr. Walker and having him join our long list of happy customers.
Reply from Mechanical Energy Systems: Update: MES Management met with Mr. Walker on July 20th and offered him a variety of options including complete installation to DIY kits. He suggested he was considering installing it himself and we offered to draw-up an installation spec sheet and official drawing for any solar hot water product he purchased from another dealer, for a consulting fee. A purchased kit from us includes our support. We have not heard back from him since then.

Emails not answered after work completed -- had to cal and leave messages. My main goal was to be "off the grid". At one time I lost my power in the middle of a sunny day and had no power (no battery backup - had to run a generator)... this is why I was Unhappy with Design Options provided. However I would still like to work with this contractor to see what options I have to fulfill my desire to be Off the Grid with power backup.
There was poor communication on the part of the installer with the landlord/other contractors such as plumbers who were trying to incorporate the MES system into our facility. MES should have been proactive and engaged in communicating openly and honestly with plumbing/electrical contractors- turned out that the plumber had to finish the installation and the tenants were then slapped with an extra very large bill to the landlord.
I had not realized how low the sun is in the winter relative to a specific tree and the amount of shade the system gets on the west side in the afternoon. I would have selected a different layout if I had known. I do know the sun is higher in the summer and this will change. But, possibly this should have been studied.
