Great company and solid experience
We recently had a 9 kW system installed on our home in West Roxbury. We spent time looking at other installers including Tesla, but felt that going with a local company would be worth it, especially when it came to communicating with them and ensuring that we got the system we wanted. I'm glad we did, because New England Clean Energy was very responsive and always helpful whenever we had questions. Todd helped us immensely from the sales and design perspective, and was not pushy at all- he actually paid attention to what we wanted from the system, and what we didn't want. One example is that we initially thought about getting a battery; however, we learned that with our underground power lines in Boston city, power outages are very infrequent, and the grid essentially is our battery (because of netmetering). This allowed us to save a considerable amount of money on something that would likely not add much value. Our project manager, Suzanne, couldn't have been more helpful and was always ensuring that we knew the next steps in the process and the anticipated time it would take for them to happen. She was very responsive when we had questions (this is why we were glad to choose a local installer). Lastly, the installation process was very impressive. The team did a very clean installation, and it was clear that they were very efficient, experienced, and professional. We have had multiple different kinds of contractors doing work on our home in the past, and we almost inevitably end up having to clean up a lot afterwards. Not this time - the team really left very little trace they were there, except of course for our new solar system. Overall, I would certainly recommend New England Clean Energy to anyone who wants a transparent, professional experience, with a local company who is responsive and does a great job.

Can't Go Wrong With New England Clean Energy
Our experience with New England Clean Energy was excellent from start to finish. Their 5 step process was very helpful in defining what to expect from them and what is expected from us. Our first contact was with one of their Sales Consultants and he did a great job helping us understand the size of the system, the equipment that would be installed, what we could expect in the way of system performance, and, of course, the cost and benefits. The engineering step is focused on system layout, locations of panels and the materials that will be needed. The operations step covered permitting with local authorities, material ordering and the creation of the project installation schedule. The installation step involved the on-site construction of the system, the inspection by local authorities leading up to this issuance of the Certificate of Completion. In the final step, the utility company installed a new meter and we were given permission to operate the system. This entire process took about 3 months. The group that we had the most exposure to was the installation team. The lead person was extremely personable, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The other crew members were also very respectful of our property and left the site clean and tidy. All in all, the crew was hard-working. I don't think they ever took a break the whole time they were here. I have no hesitation in recommending New England Clean Energy to people thinking about going solar.

Awesome Company
Worked with the team for a 16kw system consisting of 2 ground arrays and panels mounted on an auxiliary building. It was far from a cookie cutter install and we had to do some iterating to land on a workable plan. Every member of the team was responsive, patient and reliable. The install team was very efficient, clean and a pleasure to interact with. The install itself is very clean and we are excited to flip the switch once the utility completes their part.

Almost fully solar -- hurrah!
Forty-panel ground array five or six years ago and 12-panel addition in 2023 -- in both cases entirelt satisfactory work by competent and friendly personnel. Tom Hall Foster, RI

Outstanding Service!
I can't tell you how amazing it has been to work with Jessica! She has been a ROCKSTAR in helping to resolve an issue with my system not auto reporting after the meter was swapped out by a 4G one! I didn't purchase my system originally through NECE (that installer neglected to mentions until after holes were drilled into my brand new roof that I'd need to spend another $7K on tree removal that was never used in their ROI calculations nor mentioned during the entire process). But based on my interactions with Jessica and the tech who did his best to assist, I wish I'd used NECE for my original installation! What a pleasure it's been to work with smart, competent, service-oriented solar professionals!

Great overall experience
We had New England Clean Energy install a system in our home in the fall of 2022 and we have been delighted - with the hand-holding from the beginning to the planning to installation to follow-up. Two thumbs up!

Not one but two installations
Our first New England Clean Energy installation was so successful that we decided to do a second one to allow more production for electric cars and a switch to electric appliances. All along they have supported us with effective post installation support and guidance. Their estimates of production have been spot on. They’re a pleasure to do business with.

Kudos to New England Clean Energy!
After meeting with many solar companies, learning from what they told us and Not what they told us, we were discouraged....until we last met with New England Clean Energy! They were direct and educational, backing up their answers with specific facts, and respectful. Our panels look great on our roof too! The phone app is easy to install and use and is extremely fun to see our energy production, despite having a rainy, cloudy day! We can't wait till we have a sunny day! Thanks New England Clean Energy!

Communicative and helpful every step of the way
We bought our system from New England Clean Energy partly because they are well-rated. But the tipping point was seeing them mentioned in YouTube videos where a number of homeowners talking about the general topic of solar say '...oh and by the way, we are really happy with New England Clean Energy.' Our own experience has been equally outstanding. Our system is located in Ashland, MA -- 10kV AC with a max DC output of ~7.2kV -- 24 panels with individual inverters. We own the system and expect a dollar break-even of ~8 years (tax incentives help a lot). Where the system will likely last 25 years ...that's a lot of free electricity. There are many small steps to this process, and the company told us (accurately) that this would be a lengthy project. Installation of electric boxes, conduits, and meters takes a few hours. Installing the panels is a day or two. The rest is paperwork, permitting, inspections, and startup permissions -- and also for us, having our roof redone ahead of time and trees removed -- both long planned. The panels aren't particularly heavy, but it was time for a new roof, and adding solar was the impetus. The inverters and control electronics are made by Enphase (panels by an equally reputable manufacturer). Enphase provides a web service where we can monitor the performance of the system including each individual panel. We've had the system running since October -- around four months. Enough to see it making as much power as we expected. We have net metering, which means that if we make more power than we use, we produce an Eversouce credit balance which helps to cover a month when we might make less than we use. Credits are applied (or used) once a month when Eversource reads our meter and generates a billing statement (daily fluctuations don't matter). To keep us from electrocuting line workers, the inverters shut down during a grid power failure -- that's how every net-metered system works. We had one installation hiccup -- our house turned out to be a bit smaller than originally measured and the system that showed up on the truck was not going to fit. We had two choices -- leave two panels out or mount them on a less efficient surface. In the end, we wound up moving the two orphan panels to a 'summertime' position (when we use the most power) and the hiccup made no material difference. All the same, the company reached out to us and sent a meaningful discount for the momentary anxiety. Very Professional! New England Clean Energy walked us through the installation of a reliable system that is doing the job, and we found them very communicative and helpful every step of the way. I strongly recommend this company.
